View / View From...   ()

Summary

Sets the viewpoint in the active view window.

Description

When you select this command, a dialog will be displayed that allows you to choose the viewpoint in the active view window. This dialog gives you the following choices.

• Floating allows you to choose a viewpoint that is floating in space, and not attached to any particular object.

• Star allows you to choose a particular background star as the viewpoint. You specify which particular background star in the adjacent text field. The option to view from a background star is only available in solar system simulations.

• Object allows you to choose a particular object as the viewpoint. You specify which particular object in the adjacent text field.

• Location allows you to choose a particular location on an object (such as the Earth) as the viewpoint. You specify which particular location by using either the adjacent popup menu to select an existing location, or the adjacent New... button to create a new location. The option to view from a particular location on an object is only available in solar system simulations.

• Home allows you to choose your home location as the viewpoint. The option to view from your home location is only available in solar system simulations.
