All Comets

This simulation shows all known comets. Kreuz Sungrazers can be seen as a large concentration of comets towards the center-bottom of both 'View' and 'View From New York'. Other groups of sungrazers can be seen as much smaller concentrations of comets in the upper-center of 'View'. The fragments of 73P (Schwassmann-Wachmann 3) can be seen as a line of comets at the upper-center of 'View From New York'.

This simulation was created from the Planets, Moon sample simulation by using the Edit / Import Objects... command to import all known comets using the 'JPL Comets' option. The evolution time step is set to one sidereal day, so that the background stars remain fixed in position on 'View From New York'.

Since different computers run at different speeds, you may need to edit the evolution time step to get the simulation to run at an acceptable rate.
