Jupiter Trojans and Hildas

This simulation shows the brighter Jupiter Trojans and Hilda asteroids - all those with an absolute magnitude less than 13.

If you run the simulation forward, you can watch how the Jupiter Trojans and Hilda asteroids move, with each Jupiter Trojan having the same orbital period as Jupiter, and each Hilda asteroid having two thirds the orbital period of Jupiter. Selecting one or two individual asteroids will make it easier to distinguish them from the mass.

Since different computers run at different speeds, you may need to edit the evolution time step to get the simulation to run at an acceptable rate.
